A Splendid Evening

I would like to thank the three people who actually read this weblog (you know who you are :-) ) for attending my opening reception last night. I had a really great time!
It's always fun and interesting to show people what I make. Seeing how other people react to my artwork is one of the most illuminating parts of the creative process. Very rarely can I predict a person's reaction to one of my objects. There is a certain drama in this that I find both maddening and exhillarating.

Though I now feel the need to be free of deadlines for a time, I do find myself already wondering what my next artistic endeavor will be.

Making Cupcakes

The food for the reception is going to be somewhat unusual for an art opening (the usual fare being cheese, wine, etc.). This one will have cupcakes and no wine (or maybe one token bottle for show ;-) ,we'll see) The cupcakes are from a recipe I remember having when I was seven or eight. They are ice cream cone cupcakes, made with cake batter baked inside the cones, Neat! I'm planning to decorate them with icing and top some with mini chocolate chips(leaving some plain for those who can not or do not eat chocolate).
There's still a fair amount of prep work left, soooo, I'm off.....

Sooooo Tired.

I spent most of my day at work. After six o'clock I left breifly to go to the supermarket to pick up supplies for my art show's reception. After that I remained there until 10:00 making a sign for the window and generally making sure tomorrow will go smoothly. I still have some work left to do, but not nearly as much as before.
The nervous excitement about the reception has begun. I'm looking forward to being able to relax and have fun instead of working :-) .

A Bit of a Break is in Order...and Good for Me

I have worked very hard getting sculpures made and preparing for my show, and you know what? I'm tired of the whole thing (at least the deadline deal :-) ) Even though I have a bit of work left on my final piece, I decided to take the day mostly for myself (had a Doctor's apointment in the middle of it though - clean bill of health :-D) Curently I am watching a movie (The Joy Luck Club) after having watched some of the TV mini-series/movie Merlin (gifed to me by someone very near and dear). But, of course I'm not just sitting here watching. I often feel the need to occupy my hands so I'm crocheting a blanket. It feels really great to be making something solely for fun and for me to keep for my very own.
